READING ‘S NEW CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSE 

Reading, MA – Meadow Brook Golf Club recently presented its new championship golf layout to its membership and surrounding communities. Nestled in the northwest corner of Reading, Meadow Brook has long served area residents from Reading, North Reading, Wilmington, Woburn, Wakefield and Stoneham. The nine hole golf course, originally built in 1898, has a well-earned reputation as one of the most challenging tracks in the northern metro area and has frequently hosted Massachusetts Golf Association qualifying events. With the development of the new championship layout (USGA and MGA certified yardage 6850, slope 135 and rating 74.2), Meadow Brook has enhanced the challenge for low handicappers, while maintaining three other layouts that meet the needs of golfers of all skill levels including beginners.

                Meadow Brook was designed by Alexander Findlay, long known as the “Father of American Golf” for the number of 19^th century courses he dev eloped. The Club serves as the home course for the Reading Memorial High School golf team and offers a full slate of tournaments, leagues, charity events, clinics and lessons for men, women and juniors.

                Meadow Brook also boasts an Olympic pool and an active and successful swim program that has produced a number of successful high school swimmers. Its swim team, the Marlins, has won the North Shore Swim League Annual Meet four of the last six years. Lessons are available for all age groups.

                The tennis facility includes two hard courts and two clay courts and it hosts a wide array of tournaments, clinics, and lessons for juniors, women and men. The junior program has developed several successful local high school players.
